Do You Let Yourself Receive?
This money block tends to create a lot of oh, that is me moments, because on the surface it looks like being a good person.
You always pick up the bill. You add extra bonuses no one asked for. You throw in an extra session because you feel bad charging. You brush off compliments. You feel awkward when someone pays you quickly or happily, and some part of you wants to say, are you sure?
That is not generosity as a business strategy. That is a receiving block.
How it affects your business
If you are always giving but never allowing yourself to receive, eventually the energy gets weird. You start attracting people who want more and more from you, clients who never seem satisfied, and situations where the exchange does not feel fair.
For over-givers, this is huge. You may equate care with giving, but over-giving is not the same as service. It can drain you, underpay you, and quietly teach your clients that your time and energy are unlimited.
For more analytical types, receiving can bring up its own version of this. You might trust money more if you earned it the hard way, but feel suspicious when it comes easily, quickly, or generously.
And if you cannot receive a coffee, a compliment, or an easy payment without a flicker of discomfort, that same pattern is almost certainly showing up in your business too.
What to try this week
Practice receiving something small without deflecting it. If someone buys you coffee, say thank you and let it land. If someone compliments your work, receive it without immediately minimizing it. If someone pays your invoice quickly, notice any guilt or awkwardness. These moments matter because receiving is a muscle.
Affirmation: I allow myself to receive with ease and gratitude.
